Neighborhood Clean Up

The City of Omaha Spring Clean up for the Bemis Park Neighborhood is on Saturday, May 11th on the east end of Bemis Park near the intersection of 34th St & Lincoln Blvd from 8 am -2 pm.

We will have two shifts for volunteers, the first from 8 am - 11 am & the second from 11 am - 2pm.  We need a minimum of 8 volunteers per shift for 16 as a minimum total, we can always use more volunteers.  Let us know if you would like to volunteer your pick up truck or trailer to help collect items for neighbors that cannot get to the drop site.  Please let us know if you can volunteer for either shift for the cleanup or if you would like to volunteer your pick up or trailer.  To volunteer or to schedule a curbside pick up, respond to this email bemisparknewsletter@gmail.com.

Coffee, bottled water, & snacks will be provided.  We recommend bringing safety glasses and work gloves.  We also recommend wearing a N-95 mask when working close to the garbage truck during compaction, lots of dust particles & mold spores are released from old furniture and mattresses that are being collected at the cleanup.  We will provide these items on site at no charge if you do not have your own.  We also recommend wearing a hat, applying sunscreen, and applying bug spray.

Throw Out The Junk, https://throwoutthejunk.com, will be collecting electronics, appliances, & metal recycling on site during the clean up.  If you have items you would like to donate, consider the following:

Habitat for Humanity Restore, they take building materials, functioning appliances, home furnishing, & more.

Team Bike Rescue is dedicated to recycling bicycles and re-purposing them for underprivileged children. They work with and through other non-profits that seek bicycles for incentive programs, health programs, STEM and education purposes and for transportation to school, work or around town. They gladly accept any bicycle in any condition and will assist with picking them up. They are also actively seeking financial assistance so we can grow our mission and reach.:
